Some People Never Learn
Anonymous said...
Hi,
I am a Tebow and Bronco fan. I am not sure what to make of today's lost against KC. I am excited to be in the playoff however I am worried that Tebow's hot streak may have come to an end although I am hoping not.
It feels strange to lose to Orton after releasing him.
Also for the record, Kiszla has NEVER liked Tebow or has never approach anything Tebow does with an open mind. I guess people do not like things or people that they do not understand. So if you cant understand it, than bash it. This week will be very interesting to see if the bashing starts up again.

Orton didn’t beat the Broncos, the Chiefs did. Their defense is no joke and they proved it against the Packers. Don’t get so glum, I live in Pittsburgh and I will tell you right now everyone is walking around with a confident gate about this coming weekend. That is, until you start to quiz them on the matchup…at which point they give you a look as if they were a whitetail that walked in the path of a barreling Humvee. In fact, everyone here appears to be of the opinion that the only difference between Rashard Mendenhall and Issac Redman is that they wear different numbers, and that local boy Ryan Mundy subbing in for Ryan Clark is a “great opportunity for him.” They are a spoiled bunch, but Tebow has felled giants before and can do it again.
The reality is that Tebow has developed as much as a passer can under current conditions, and in my opinion he is playing relatively well when you consider all the factors. He has yet to play a full season of games but managed to get his team into the playoffs, and was in a four game hole to start out! His completion percentage is awful, but he doesn’t play a high completion percentage game. His 13.7 yards per completion is 4th highest in the league (better than Aaron Rodger’s 13.5) and it is mostly because he doesn’t check down…he tucks and runs. If McGahee and Ball were RAC threats then I understand checking down, but right now Tebow believes he can do more damage and disrupt a defense more if he is a constant threat to run, and I agree. The Steelers are the better team on paper, but whether or not they will execute their gameplan properly despite their various injury problems has yet to be seen. The good news for Broncos fans is that the post season will be a great learning opportunity for the whole team, and it will benefit Tebow to get the playing experience. This may not end up being Denver’s year, they have alot of young talent to develope yet, but they are headed in the right direction.
Also, Kiszla didn’t...and at this point it seems like he really isn’t able to. After making a fool of himself for the better part of the season; why change now? Stay confident and hope that Tebow falls apart. Instead, he is dancing around the topic and writing about everything else he conceivably can. From calling the Broncos ownership cheap to criticizing Elway on signing off on releasing Orton, he literally has no clue and no shame. My guess is that at this point Kiszla has exhausted whatever standing he had as a sports critic and the Denver Post is getting tired of him shaming himself and their publication with his idiocy. The only reason I can figure that Kiszla isn’t having a grand time slamming Tebow is because his boss told him that it’s hard to sell “Mile High Magic” t-shirts on the same website in which Kiszla is lambasting Tebow.

Thank you for addressing my response to your blog. I found it very insightful. You provide a very detailed and well thought out analysis to support your thoughts unlike most other commentary you hear on ESPN and other sports relate blog sites. I will continue reading and following your blog. Happy New Year to you and Happy NFL playoff time.
By the way is there a particular NFL team you cheer for or follow more than the others?

Your very welcome. Happy New Years to you as well. I used to be a Steelers fan but quit last year right after the Steelers beat the Jets to win the AFC. Being a Steelers fan is almost like being a Yankee’s fan; if they don’t make the playoffs then everyone is surprised. Comedian Doug Stanhope said it best when he said rooting for the Yankee’s is like going to a casino and rooting for the house. “Yeah, dealer busted your ass, Grandma!” It’s a similar situation to the Steelers, plus I got tired of associating myself with such a spoiled bunch of crybabies. “It’s very important that ‘we’ win this weekend and that ‘we’ beat the Ravens." I don’t own a helmet, I don’t go to team meeting and I have zero impact on what happens on Sunday. I am all for fanhood and supporting your local franchise, but the level of zeal and hardheadedness in the Steel City is truly staggering sometimes.
To actually answer your question, I am generally interested in individual players more than teams. Teams are hard to support because of all the moving parts, but following players like Jason Pierre Paul, Victor Cruz, Mark Ingram, Tim Tebow, Chris Houston, Stevan Ridley, Greg Olsen and rooting for them and their team can be alot of fun, and at the same time avoid drawing alot of lines in the sand.
I am more of a Broncos fan than anything these days because Tebow has been such a special gift to the NFL this season. He worked hard and earned a starting gig, earned a leadership role, remained humble, helped get his team to the playoffs (you know, the whole goal of the regular season) and became a shining example of what every single NFL superstar should be: a person that uses their powers for good.
